The record broadens their sonic palette considerably, drawing on influences that range from soulful pub rock to melancholic sophisto pop. Pitchfork captured it well, describing their approach to jangle as an enormous world of moods and muses, and Cotton Crown makes a convincing case that they are still mapping its edges.
