About
The War and Treaty are a husband and wife duo, Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter, who blend soul, folk, gospel and country into something that feels both timeless and immediate. Their shared life feeds directly into the songwriting, which swings between fragile ballads and full on roof raising soul. They made their debut with Healing Tide in 2018 and have kept deepening their sound across subsequent records including Hearts Town and Lover's Game. Whether they are pulling the room into a hush or shaking it loose, they carry a genuine reverence for American musical tradition without ever sounding like a museum piece.
