About
Tom Trago has been one of Amsterdam's most distinctive voices in electronic music since his first single dropped on Rush Hour in 2006. Initially pulled toward hip hop, soul and jazz, he found his way into house and techno through the Amsterdam club scene and regular visits to the Rush Hour record shop, and that blend of influences has stayed with him ever since. His label Voyage Direct, launched in 2010, became a genuine platform for Dutch electronic artists, putting out music from Legowelt, Interstellar Funk, San Proper and many others. Across four albums, Trago keeps pushing his sound in new directions. The Light Fantastic, recorded partly in a countryside cabin, earned praise from Resident Advisor for shaping its influences into something unmistakably Dutch. His 2018 album Bergen, made in a northern Dutch town that lends it its name, is what he called his most accomplished and honest work yet. He is also a prolific collaborator, having worked with Romanthony, Seth Troxler, Bok Bok, Steffi and Young Marco among others.
