About
Operating under the name Violence (stylized VIOLENCE), Olin Caprison is an American experimental musician, composer, and producer whose work sits at the intersection of performance art and sound. Their catalog spans releases through some genuinely interesting labels and collectives: the artist collective NON put out A Ruse of Power in 2016, and Purple Tape Pedigree followed with Human Dust to Fertilize the Impotent Garden in 2017. Violence has toured alongside Mykki Blanco and Yves Tumor, performed at the Brooklyn Museum, and scored works by artists including Kandis Williams and Richard Kennedy. A 2019 MacDowell fellowship in music composition rounds out a profile that goes well beyond the usual experimental music circuit.
