Wolf Alice built their reputation the hard way, starting as an acoustic duo in London before evolving into one of British rock's most compelling four pieces. Singer Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie, joined by drummer Joel Amey and bassist Theo Ellis, blend dream pop shimmer with noise rock punch in a way that feels genuinely their own. Their 2013 single "Fluffy" kicked things off, and their debut album My Love Is Cool landed at No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart in 2015, with "Moaning Lisa Smile" cracking the top ten on the US Alternative Songs chart. Their second album Visions of a Life took the Mercury Prize in 2018, which felt overdue for a band that had been quietly outplaying most of their peers for years. Then came Blue Weekend in 2021, a record so good it went straight to No. 1 in the UK and won them the Brit Award for British Group. Filmmaker Michael Winterbottom was so taken with the band that he followed them on tour and turned the footage into a docudrama called On the Road.
