The Last Dinner Party hit number one on the UK Albums Chart with their debut record Prelude to Ecstasy in February 2024, posting the highest first week sales for a debut album in over nine years. The London five piece blend glam rock, baroque pop and art rock into something theatrical and genuinely hard to categorise, drawing comparisons to Queen, Kate Bush and Roxy Music. Their debut single Nothing Matters, produced by James Ford, became a top twenty UK hit and even landed on the EA Sports FC 24 soundtrack. Before the album was even out, they had already won the BRITs Rising Star award and the BBC Sound of 2024 poll. Their second album, From the Pyre, arrived in October 2025 and charted at number two. It was produced by Markus Dravs after James Ford stepped back following a leukaemia diagnosis. Singles like Second Best and Count the Ways point to a band pushing their sound further rather than repeating themselves.
