About
Organ and drums. That's the entire setup for zZz, the Amsterdam duo of Björn Ottenheim and Daan Schinkel, and somehow they make it work in a big, brooding way. Founded in 2000, the pair built their sound around dark, heavy organ rock that has more in common with a basement at midnight than anything you'd call light listening. Their single Ecstacy turned up in the film Phileine zegt sorry and in the TV series Skins, while the track Grip soundtracked a Fiat ad in 2008. The track Soul from their album Sound of zZz even made it into the Ubisoft game Driver: San Francisco. Their third album Juggernaut landed in 2015, and after a decade of quiet, zZz returned in late 2025 with a new album titled こんにちは Guten Tag Money Money, picking up right where they left off.
