Pittsburgh's 156/Silence have spent nearly a decade shapeshifting through the harder end of the spectrum, and their 2024 full length People Watching marked a notable pivot toward metalcore and away from the hardcore sound they'd built their name on. The band got their start in 2015 and wasted little time, dropping a debut EP and a full album within their first year. A complete lineup overhaul followed, and the reconstituted crew pushed through Undercover Scumbag, Irrational Pull, and Narrative before landing on their most sonically refined record yet. The band has been through real turbulence behind the scenes too. In early 2025, they lost bassist Lukas Booker unexpectedly, a serious blow to any group. They pressed on regardless, confirming plans to keep going. Their YouTube channel has been showing signs of life around a third LP in the works, including studio updates and a behind the scenes look at a track called Better Written Villain, so there's clearly more on the way.
