Few bands have moved from posting YouTube covers to selling 10 million albums as fast as 5 Seconds of Summer. The Sydney four piece, made up of Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin, built their name on pop punk energy and giant pop hooks, and got their big break supporting One Direction on the Take Me Home Tour in 2013. That exposure turned them into a genuinely global act. Their run of number ones is hard to ignore. Debut single "She Looks So Perfect" topped charts in four countries, and their first three full length albums all debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making them the first band to pull that off. "Youngblood", the title track from their 2018 third album, became the fourth highest selling Australian single of the 2010s and shifted over five million adjusted copies in its first six months. Their fourth album Calm kept the momentum going, debuting at number one in four countries.
