About
Angus McSix is a power metal supergroup built around a wildly ambitious concept: the resurrection of fictional Scottish crown prince Angus McFife XIII, who returns from the dead as a more powerful version of himself after dying heroically at the end of a Gloryhammer storyline. The band was founded by Swiss vocalist Thomas Winkler and German guitarist and producer Sebastian "Seeb" Levermann, who pulled in Italian guitarist Thalia Bellazecca and Rhapsody of Fire drummer Manu Lotter to flesh out the lineup. Their debut album, Angus McSix and the Sword of Power, landed in 2023 on Napalm Records and became the most successful debut by a power metal band in the German, Swiss, and Austrian charts. Sonically they blend late nineties power metal with modern disco influences, drawing comparisons to Sonata Arctica and Blind Guardian, with vocals reviewers have likened to Rob Halford and Ronnie James Dio. The band has seen lineup changes since launch, with Winkler stepping back in 2025 and vocalist Sam Nyman stepping in as the new face of Angus McSix. Their second album, Angus McSix and the All Seeing Astral Eye, followed in 2026.
