About
Beast in Black built their sound around a genuinely unusual mix: power metal guitar work, heavy electronics, and a clear love of 80s pop. That combination, plus the magnetic stage energy of Greek vocalist Yannis Papadopoulos, helped the Helsinki band carve out a lane that few others were occupying. Founding guitarist and main songwriter Anton Kabanen assembled the group in 2015, pulling in musicians he had connected with during years on the European touring circuit. Their debut album Berserker landed in late 2017 and went Platinum through the IFPI, followed by a second Platinum record with From Hell with Love in 2019. The third album Dark Connection earned Gold status. Lyrically, the band draws on the manga Berserk, dark fantasy, science fiction and relationships, with a recurring mascot called the Beast woven through their artwork and live productions. Festival slots at Graspop, Hellfest and Wacken have cemented their reputation as one of the heavier acts Finland has produced in recent years.
