About
Ash are a Northern Irish punk and alternative rock band whose debut album 1977 landed at number one and became one of the defining records of the Britpop era. The album's title is a nod to the year the band members were born, and its arrival turned a group of teenage lads into genuine indie heroes almost overnight. Their career kept moving well beyond that opening statement, with the follow up Free All Angels proving equally successful and more recent singles like Keep Dreaming showing the band still has plenty of momentum. Through all of it, 1977 never lost its special place for fans or for the band itself. To mark three decades since its release, Ash are performing the album in full, giving it the celebration it deserves.
