About
Son of punk legend Ian Dury, Baxter Dury has long since carved out his own lane with a sound that blends indie rock cool with art pop and synth pop textures. His 2017 album Prince of Tears was the real breakthrough moment, earning Album of the Week nods from the Sunday Times and the Guardian, with Mojo calling it a career best. It featured Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods and Rose Elinor Dougall, and included a single that Jarvis Cocker later remixed. Since then he has kept pushing: The Night Chancers followed in 2020 to strong critical reception, and his seventh album I Thought I Was Better Than You arrived in 2023, produced by Paul White and landing at number 7 in Rough Trade's Albums of the Year list. He also wrote a memoir, Chaise Longue, which made multiple Books of the Year lists in 2021.
