About
Big Big Train have been quietly building one of the most devoted followings in progressive rock since forming in Bournemouth back in 1990. Founded by Gregory Spawton and Andy Poole, the band spent years as a mostly studio project before their sixth album, The Underfall Yard, turned heads in the prog community and gave them a more settled lineup. Their first live concerts in 17 years, at Kings Place in London in 2015, were voted Event of the Year by Prog magazine readers, a sign of just how passionately the fanbase had grown. The band has seen significant change since losing vocalist David Longdon in 2021, with Alberto Bravin stepping in as his replacement. They released the compilation Ingenious Devices in 2023, blending Longdon's original vocals with Bravin's live performances. Their 2024 album The Likes of Us marked a confident step forward with the new lineup, and the band finally made it to North America for their first US tour that same year. Their most recent studio album, Woodcut, followed in early 2026.
