About
BlowBeat have been a fixture of the Dutch music scene since the nineties, building a catalogue of well received albums and earning fans on both sides of the German border. The band spent roughly a decade on ice before returning to the stage with renewed regularity, picking up where they left off. Their audience is notably loyal and includes a large number of fellow musicians, which says something about the respect the group commands among peers. The music sits somewhere between funk rock and nederpop: rock energy paired with tight, inventive arrangements, a driving rhythm section, guitar duels, and lyrics that lean into humour and irony. The members, Leendert Haaksma, Ton Engels, Eric Coenen and Arthur Lijten, are also active as session players and teachers at music academies and conservatoires, and have worked alongside artists including Anouk, Ilse DeLange, Anastacia and Ellen ten Damme. On stage, BlowBeat bring the precision of trained musicians without any of the stuffiness.
