About
Busty and the Bass started as an instrumental jam session at a house party in Montreal and grew into an eight piece collective blending soul, jazz, funk, R&B, hip hop, and folk with a signature horn section that sits at the heart of everything they do. Their name was never meant to be permanent, but the irony of a whole group taking turns being "Busty" was too good to drop. They won Canada's Top University Band competition in 2014, which kicked off their recording career in earnest. Their debut album Uncommon Good landed in 2017, executive produced by Neal Pogue, the Grammy winning engineer best known for his work with Outkast. The follow up Eddie came out in 2020, the same year they signed to Arts and Crafts Productions, and their third album Forever Never Cares arrived in 2023. Along the way they played Osheaga, Pinkpop, and the Montreal International Jazz Festival, earned a Juno nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year, and got a shoutout from Macy Gray herself after covering her hit "I Try".
