About
Also known as: Camel Phat
CamelPhat, the Liverpool duo of Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, have been quietly building their sound since their first recordings under the name in 2010, but it was "Cola" with Elderbrook in 2017 that put them on the global map. That track hit No. 1 on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording, no small thing for a pair who used to wear wrestling masks to keep the focus on the music rather than themselves. Their sound sits comfortably across deep house, melodic techno and progressive house, and it has drawn in collaborators like Jake Bugg, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis, and Jem Cooke. Their debut album Dark Matter dropped in 2020 and charted in the UK top 25, showing there is plenty of substance behind the dancefloor hits.
