Charlie Puth first grabbed attention not through traditional radio play but through viral YouTube covers, which led to a record deal with Ellen DeGeneres's label eleveneleven in 2011. The real breakthrough came in 2015 when he co wrote, produced, and sang on Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again", a tribute to Paul Walker for the Furious 7 soundtrack. That track sat atop the US Billboard Hot 100 for 12 non consecutive weeks, went diamond, and earned Puth a Golden Globe nomination plus three Grammy nods including Song of the Year. His debut album Nine Track Mind followed in 2016, anchored by the Selena Gomez duet "We Don't Talk Anymore", which cracked the Billboard Hot 100 top ten. His second album Voicenotes landed more warmly with critics and spawned "Attention", one of his sharpest pop productions to date. Puth's third album Charlie continued the commercial streak, featuring the Jungkook collab "Left and Right". Behind the scenes, he co wrote and produced "Stay" for Justin Bieber and the Kid Laroi in 2021, topping the Hot 100 without even appearing on the track.
