About
Also known as: Charles Wayne Sexton, Charlie Sexton & The Sextones, Little Charlie, Little Charlie & The Eager Beaver Boys
Best known for his 1985 debut album Pictures for Pleasure and its Top 20 hit "Beat's So Lonely", Charlie Sexton was still a teenager when he recorded that record in Los Angeles, and it spent 34 weeks on the Billboard 200. That early success landed him session work with the likes of Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Don Henley and Bob Dylan, plus an occasional opening slot for David Bowie on the Glass Spider Tour in 1987. Sexton went on to co found the blues rock outfit Arc Angels in 1992, a Steven Van Zandt produced project with Doyle Bramhall II and the Double Trouble rhythm section, before forming the Charlie Sexton Sextet and releasing Under the Wishing Tree in 1995. He joined Bob Dylan's touring band in 1999, with critics particularly praising his interplay with Larry Campbell on Love and Theft. He has also built a solid reputation as a producer, with credits spanning Lucinda Williams, Edie Brickell and Jimmie Vaughan.
