Christian Löffler makes music that sits somewhere between the dancefloor and a long walk through a forest at dusk. The German producer and musician blends techno, deep house, and ambient into something genuinely contemplative, often weaving in field recordings from nature alongside processed drums and vocal collaborators. He founded his own label, Ki Records, in 2009, and has since built a quietly devoted global following across six studio albums. Der Spiegel called his debut A Forest a classic of contemplative house, and AllMusic sums up his output as emotionally charged and melancholic, isolated yet strangely appealing. His 2021 album Parallels: Shellac Reworks stands out as one of the more unexpected moves in his catalogue. Deutsche Grammophon gave him access to shellac records from their archive, and Löffler reworked pieces by Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, and others in his own style, later performing the material live with the Royal Northern Sinfonia. His 2024 album A Life, made with singers Malou and Mogli, was praised for pushing back against AI generated music in favour of something raw and human.
