About
Liverpool's Circa Waves have carved out a reliable corner of British indie rock since forming in 2013, but they're not a band content to stay in one lane. Their debut album Young Chasers hit the UK top ten in 2015, and by the time Different Creatures arrived in 2017 they had swapped bright guitar pop for something darker and denser, leaning into thick, distorted guitar tones. What's It Like Over There? pulled them back toward indie and pop rock, earning strong reviews, while the double album Sad Happy tackled themes of technology and modern anxiety across two contrasting sides. Never Going Under, released in January 2023, topped the UK Independent Album Chart, a real milestone for the band. The run up to it was shadowed by frontman Kieran Shudall undergoing emergency heart surgery, an experience that fed directly into the writing of their sixth album Death and Love. Part one landed in January 2025, with the full record set to follow later that year.
