Corrosion of Conformity have spent over four decades refusing to stay in one lane. Starting out as a hardcore punk band in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1982, they gradually shifted toward a heavier, blues soaked metal sound that eventually pulled in stoner and southern rock flavors too. That evolution paid off commercially with Deliverance in 1994, which gave them two genuine rock radio hits in "Albatross" and "Clean My Wounds" and landed them on Columbia Records after the label literally bought out their contract situation to get them signed. Guitarist Woody Weatherman is the one constant through all of it, outlasting numerous lineup shuffles over the years. The so called classic lineup with Weatherman, Mike Dean, Reed Mullin, and vocalist Pepper Keenan produced some of their most beloved records, and their 2018 reunion album No Cross No Crown became their best charting release ever, cracking the top 100 on the Billboard 200 at number 67. Their eleventh studio album Good God / Baad Man arrived in 2026, proof that COC are nowhere near done.
