About

Darkest Hour have been pushing the boundaries of melodic metalcore and melodic death metal out of Washington, D.C. since 1995, but it was albums like Undoing Ruin and Deliver Us that really cemented their reputation. A turning point came with Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation, produced by Swedish metal veteran Fredrik Nordström, which pulled the band toward a sharper, more melodic death metal sound and landed them a spot at Ozzfest 2004. Their album Godless Prophets and the Migrant Flora hit number 42 on the Billboard 200, the highest chart position of their career, and marked another stylistic shift in their sound. They have always had a knack for showing up in unexpected places, from being name checked in the metal genealogy chart in the 2005 documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey to having their song Demon(s) featured in Guitar Hero 5. More recently the band has been putting out new material, with official videos for tracks like Perpetual Terminal, Societal Bile, and One With the Void dropping across 2023 and 2024.
