DJ Tunez, born Michael Babatunde Adeyinka and raised in South Brooklyn, has built a reputation as one of the leading figures in Afrobeats DJ culture bridging New York and Lagos. His 2016 collaboration with Wande Coal, "Iskaba", set the tone early, landing on Okayafrica's Best Songs of 2017 and showing his knack for tracks that hit just as hard at a party as they do on a playlist. Signing to Wizkid's Starboy Entertainment in 2015 opened doors to a string of collaborations with some of the biggest names in Afrobeats and beyond, including Burna Boy, Omah Lay, Busiswa, and Reekado Banks. His collaborative project South Gidi gained serious traction across clubs and social media, and by late 2025 he was sitting at over 3.55 million monthly listeners on Spotify, ranking among Africa's top DJs.
