About
Elder have spent nearly two decades building one of the most rewarding catalogs in heavy psychedelic rock, starting from doom heavy riffs in Massachusetts and arriving at something far more expansive and hard to pin down. Frontman and guitarist Nick DiSalvo is the engine room, a self described writer of long songs who counts Colour Haze and Dungen among his touchstones. The band relocated to Berlin, which led to their 2021 collaboration with fellow Berlin residents Kadavar, and the city remains their base. Rolling Stone put their 2017 record Reflections of a Floating World at number five on its top metal albums list that year, a sign that the outside world was catching up. Their seventh studio album Through Zero arrived in 2026, recorded across winter sessions in Berlin at Big Snuff Studio and clocking in at nearly an hour, their longest studio production yet.
