About
Ellen ten Damme is one of those rare performers who can switch between rock, cabaret, and circus acrobatics without missing a beat. The Dutch singer, actress and multi instrumentalist works in four languages, Dutch, English, French and German, and brings that same restless range to her albums. She has released six studio records spanning English language rock on Kill Your Darlings and Impossible Girl, Dutch language songwriting on Durf jij and Het Regende Zon, and the live German language set Berlin, recorded at the Royal Dutch Concertgebouw. Beyond her solo work, ten Damme has moved in some interesting circles. She joined new wave act Soviet Sex in the late nineties and later toured with German rock legend Udo Lindenberg, even competing in the German Eurovision selection with his provocative anti war song. Her gymnastic background is no mere footnote either: acrobatic and circus elements are a genuine signature of her live shows, most notably in the full circus production Cirque Stiletto. Guitarist Robin Berlijn has been a long running collaborator, and her voice has appeared on soundtracks including Casper: A Spirited Beginning.
