About
Eric Lu is one of the rare pianists to have won multiple major international competitions, a feat he shares with only Radu Lupu. The Massachusetts born pianist first turned heads at seventeen when he placed fourth at the International Chopin Piano Competition in 2015, one of the youngest laureates in that contest's history. He then took first prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2018, the youngest finalist in that field and the first American to win Leeds since Murray Perahia in 1972. His winning performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 sealed it. Since signing an exclusive deal with Warner Classics in 2019, Lu has built a discography spanning Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Schubert, and Schumann. He performs regularly with top orchestras including the London Symphony, Chicago Symphony, and Boston Symphony. In 2025 he returned to the Chopin Competition in Warsaw and won first prize, performing the Polonaise Fantaisie and Chopin's Second Piano Concerto in the final round.
