Yunchan Lim became the youngest winner ever of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and that gold medal was the launch pad for a serious international career. The South Korean pianist is equally at home in sweeping Romantic repertoire and the more structured world of classical period music. He has recorded Bach's Goldberg Variations, and in concert he takes on everything from Mozart sonatas to the full dramatic arc of Liszt's Second Piano Concerto, a work that demands both breathtaking technique and genuine storytelling.
