About

Benjamin Grosvenor made his name early: at eleven he won the keyboard section of BBC Young Musician 2004, playing Ravel's Concerto in G, and by his early twenties he was the youngest artist ever to sign with Decca and the first British pianist on the label in sixty years. His debut disc, Chopin Liszt Ravel, swept the 2012 Gramophone Awards for both Instrumental and Young Artist, making him the youngest double winner in the prize's history. He plays with a remarkable range of orchestras, from the London Symphony and New York Philharmonic to the Cleveland Orchestra and Philadelphia Orchestra, and in 2011 became the youngest ever soloist on the opening night of the BBC Proms. Grosvenor's recordings cover a lot of ground, from Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue to solo collections built around dance forms, and his 2020 Chopin Piano Concertos with Elim Chan and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra earned both a Gramophone Award and a Diapason d'Or de l'année. Composer Judith Weir even wrote a solo piano work specifically for him. His most recent disc focuses on Chopin's Piano Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3, released in 2025.
