Alice Sara Ott has built a reputation as one of the more adventurous pianists working in classical music today, recording exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon since 2008 and covering an impressively wide range of repertoire. Her 2015 collaboration with Icelandic composer and multi instrumentalist Ólafur Arnalds, The Chopin Project, stands out for its fresh take on Chopin, weaving in new arrangements for strings, piano and synthesizer to create something genuinely unexpected. She has also put her own stamp on composers from Liszt and Mussorgsky to Debussy and Ligeti, and her 2021 album Echoes of Life even includes an original composition of her own. Ott performs regularly across Europe, Japan and the United States, working with orchestras including the Chicago Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the London Symphony. In 2019 she publicly shared her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, and has continued to perform and record actively since then. Her most recent releases include a deep dive into Beethoven and a recording of John Field's complete nocturnes.
