About
Jan Lisiecki signed with Deutsche Grammophon at fifteen, and he has been making records for the label ever since. The Calgary born pianist first caught international attention through live recordings of the two Chopin piano concertos from a festival in Warsaw, which earned a Diapason d'Or Découverte. At eighteen he picked up Gramophone's Young Artist Award and the Leonard Bernstein Award. His career has had its share of big moments. In 2013 he stepped in at short notice for Martha Argerich to play Beethoven under Claudio Abbado in Bologna, and by his early twenties he had made his debut in Carnegie Hall. His album of Chopin's rarely played works for piano and orchestra won both an Echo Klassik and a Juno Award. He has also led orchestras from the piano, recorded all five Beethoven concertos with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and teamed up with baritone Matthias Goerne for Beethoven songs.
