About
Geese have been one of the more quietly thrilling stories in indie rock over the past few years. The Brooklyn band blends art rock, post punk and experimental rock into something that critics keep reaching for words to describe, with vocalist Cameron Winter drawing comparisons for his stylistic range alone. Influences like Television, The Velvet Underground, The Strokes and Radiohead come through in the mix, though Geese have carved out a sound that feels distinctly their own. They signed to Partisan Records after their basement demos caught the attention of labels including Sub Pop and Fat Possum, which tells you something about the quality of those early recordings. Their 2023 album 3D Country, produced by James Ford, pushed things further, and their fourth record Getting Killed landed in 2025 to widespread acclaim, ending up on year end lists at Stereogum and The New Yorker. Winter also put out a solo album, Heavy Metal, in late 2024, which brought fresh attention to both him and the band. Geese have since performed on Saturday Night Live and Jimmy Kimmel Live, a long way from recording in a Fort Greene basement.
