About
Jae Stephens makes R&B pop that sounds like it's living between two eras at once, pulling the warmth and texture of 2000s R&B into something that feels genuinely forward looking. Based in Los Angeles, she writes about relationships with the kind of sharp, unsentimental eye that got Rolling Stone quoting her on writing about men "like they're disposable." Her debut EP, titled F**k it i'll do it myself, was exactly that: self produced and self written out of frustration with waiting around, and it landed her a spot performing with Khalid on Saturday Night Live. She later won a creator campaign run by Issa Rae's label Raedio, which led to a joint deal with Def Jam. Since then she's kept a steady pace, putting out the EP High My Name Is in 2022 and launching the Sellout series from 2024 onward. Away from her own releases, she's built a serious songwriting resume, with credits for Jennifer Lopez, Normani, Latto, and Sinéad Harnett among others.
