John Craigie has built a devoted following by doing something rare: making folk music that's genuinely funny. His live shows weave together original songs and comedic storytelling in a way that's drawn comparisons to Woody Guthrie for the music and Mitch Hedberg for the laughs, earning him the tag of "Modern Day Troubadour." He's spent years on the road, opening for the likes of Todd Snider, the Avett Brothers, and Trampled by Turtles. The real turning point came when his 2016 live album ended up on Jack Johnson's car stereo, which led to Craigie opening 11 dates of Johnson's national tour and the two releasing a live version of Craigie's "I Wrote Mr. Tambourine Man" recorded at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley. His 2017 album No Rain, No Rose was recorded in his Portland living room with Gregory Alan Isakov and Shook Twins, while 2020's Asterisk The Universe was tracked in a Northern California cabin with the Rainbow Girls.
