About
Karsu Dönmez goes by one name, and it suits her: the Amsterdam born, Turkish Dutch singer and pianist has built a career that stretches from her father's restaurant in De Pijp to Carnegie Hall and well beyond. Her sound sits at the crossroads of jazz, pop, and Turkish music, and she writes and sings in Dutch, English, and Turkish depending on what the song needs. Albums like Confession and Colors established her reputation in the Netherlands, with Colors earning her the Edison Award in 2016. Off stage, she built a music school for refugees in Athens and took on a director role supporting refugees in Amsterdam, showing that her ambitions go well past the concert hall. Her 2021 single Sonunda landed at number one in the Turkish charts, and her appearance on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers that same year introduced her to an even wider audience. She was also one of five finalists in the Dutch selection for Eurovision 2024. Her most recent album, Tabula Rasa, came out in 2025.
