Nazan Öncel has been one of Turkey's most distinctive singer songwriters since the early 1980s, writing her own material and handling arrangements for most of her records, while also penning songs for major names like Tarkan and İbrahim Tatlıses. Her 1996 album Sokak Kızı pushed into rockier territory and delivered three hit singles, including "Erkekler de Yanar", all backed by memorable videos that cemented her mainstream profile. Her seventh studio album, 7'n Bitirdin, features twelve new songs mastered by Miles Showell in London, the same engineer behind work with Queen, Elton John and George Michael. More recently she released "Beni Hatırla" in 2024, and her 2018 collaboration with Tarkan on "Hadi O Zaman" showed she is always worth watching when she teams up with fellow Turkish heavyweights.
