Levent Yüksel has been one of the defining voices in Turkish pop since his debut album Med Cezir dropped in 1993, shaking up the country's pop landscape with a fresh sound and a vocal range that genuinely surprised people. Before stepping into the spotlight as a singer, he was already respected as one of the best bass guitar players in Turkey, having studied at the Istanbul University State Conservatory. That musicianship runs through everything he does. His 1996 track Zalim became so widely recognized that its melody ended up borrowed for ad campaigns around the world, and his songs have been covered and adapted into multiple languages by younger artists building their own careers. Across nine studio albums spanning more than two decades, he has kept experimenting, with a duet alongside Sezen Aksu being a particularly notable moment. He is a genuine cornerstone of Turkish pop.
