About
Named after an ancient Egyptian city now called Akhmim, Denver's Khemmis have carved out a serious reputation in the doom metal world by blending traditional heavy metal with death and black metal influences. Their second album Hunted landed at number one on Decibel Magazine's Top 40 of 2016 and earned a spot on Rolling Stone's best metal albums of that year, a strong signal that the band was doing something that resonated well beyond genre circles. Signed worldwide to Nuclear Blast, they released Deceiver in late 2021 to more critical praise, ranking second on Decibel's year end list. They also have a knack for interesting covers, tackling Ronnie James Dio's Rainbow in the Dark and Alice in Chains' Down in a Hole with genuine conviction. A self titled fifth album arrived in June 2026, with a guitar playthrough trailer hinting at what the band has been cooking up.
