About

Krallice started almost by accident. Guitarist Colin Marston and Mick Barr set out to make a black metal record with no real expectations, but what took shape in Marston's Queens recording studio Menegroth turned into something far more serious. With drummer Lev Weinstein and bassist Nick McMaster rounding out the lineup, the band became one of the most talked about acts in American black metal, praised for a highly technical, progressive approach built on dense multi tracked guitars, tremolo picked passages, and long, complex song structures. Fifteen studio albums deep, Krallice has steadily pushed further from their lo fi black metal roots toward something genuinely unclassifiable. Early records like Diotima drew comparisons to Burzum and Wolves in the Throne Room, while later work brought in sounds closer to Gorguts and Deathspell Omega. Their 2015 record Ygg Huur, named after a suite by Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi and dropped with zero advance notice, is a fan favourite. The band kept the pace up through the 2020s with a string of self released albums, most recently Inorganic Rites in 2024.
