About

Madra Salach, which translates from Irish as Dirty Dog, came together on the Northside of Dublin when founding trio Paul Banks, Adam Cullen and Dara Duffy started playing trad in pubs and small venues. The six piece eventually took shape when Banks and future member Jack Martin got talking about fusing contemporary sounds into the mix, which became the defining quality of their folk blend. Maxime Arnold, Jack Lawlor and Jack Martin rounded out the lineup. After a solid festival run in 2025, including sets at All Together Now and Electric Picnic, the band released their debut single "Blue and Gold" in September 2025, followed by "I Was Just A Boy" the following October. Their debut EP "It's a Hell of an Age" dropped in January 2026 and topped the Irish Independent Albums Chart. The title comes from the opening line of "Murphy Can Never Go Home", a traditional ballad about the Irish migrant experience written by Mick Curry, an Irish labourer working in Birmingham.
