Matt Maeson has a knack for making alternative rock that feels genuinely heavy without leaning on volume alone. The Virginia Beach singer songwriter broke through with 'Cringe', a debut single that quietly climbed the charts before spending four weeks at number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in August 2019, the longest run at the top by a new artist that year. It was later certified gold by the RIAA, no small thing for someone who had only just released his debut album, Bank on the Funeral, in April of that year. Before that album arrived he had already built a following through two EPs, Who Killed Matt Maeson and The Hearse, and festival slots at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. He kept the momentum going with 'Hallucinogenics', which hit number one on both the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and the Rock Airplay chart in 2020. His second full studio album, Never Had to Leave, followed in August 2022.
