About
Also known as: Daisy May, May Erlewine Bernard
May Erlewine has been putting out records since the early 2000s, and at this point her catalog runs to well over 15 albums spanning folk, bluegrass, rock and roll, and blues. Based in Northern Michigan, she plays guitar, piano, and violin, and has worked in a range of configurations: solo, in a duo with Max Lockwood, with the May Erlewine Band, with May Erlewine and the Motivations, and as part of the harmony trio Sweet Water Warblers. Her song "Shine On" got a notable boost when Sawyer Fredericks performed it during the final round of The Voice in 2015, and her music has also appeared on the soundtrack of the 2014 film Old Fashioned. Erlewine is a core part of the Earthwork Music collective, an independent label focused on regional original music. Two of her songs even found their way into Rise Again, the 2016 sequel to the beloved folk songbook Rise Up Singing. Her most recent album, What It Takes, came out in 2025.
