About
Also known as: Purple Rain
New Purple Celebration has been carrying the torch for Prince's music since 2004, building a loyal following across the globe through fully live performances with no backing tracks in sight. The London based nine piece band is led by founder and frontman Jimi Love, who handles both vocals and guitar, and the lineup includes a brass section that gives the whole thing a genuine funk and soul punch. Rather than sticking to the obvious catalog, the group digs into Prince's deeper cuts alongside the well known anthems like Purple Rain, Kiss and Little Red Corvette, mixing in the funky grooves and hidden gems that made Prince's recorded output so vast and varied. For fans who want more than a greatest hits run through, that approach makes all the difference.
