About
Niki Jacobs spent years touring across America and Europe before deciding to do something she had long wanted: sing in Dutch, her mother tongue. That shift produced a full Dutch language repertoire, with lyrics written by Brigitte Kaandorp, and a show called JA! that she describes as cheerful, raw, moving and personal. The material draws on the words of Frater Venantius and circles around themes of resilience, reinventing yourself and embracing new horizons. Born in 1978, Jacobs brings a sense of hard won courage and appetite for life to everything she does. JA! has been described as a coming of age story for the more experienced, which pretty much tells you the tone: honest, a little weathered and very much alive.
