About
Perth's Psychedelic Porn Crumpets describe their own sound as 'an energetic mess of colour and tone', which is about as accurate a three second pitch as you'll get. The band pulls from classic rock heavyweights like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath alongside experimental electronic jazz, and the result sits comfortably in the same Australian psych rock conversation as Tame Impala and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Frontman and main songwriter Jack McEwan also handles the band's artwork, and their music videos carry the same trance like quality as the music itself, drawing on influences as eclectic as Monty Python and Woody Allen. Since forming in 2014, they have built a catalogue that now stretches to eight studio albums, released largely through their own What Reality? Records label. Their most recent records are Carpe Diem, Moonman and Pogo Rodeo, both released in 2025, showing no sign of the band slowing their pace. Live, they have always leaned hard into a DIY ethos, and that relentless hands on approach has helped them grow from garage raves in Leederville to festival stages well beyond Australia.
