Ron Trent cut his teeth on the Chicago house scene but broke through with a sound that crossed lines. His 1990 track "Altered States" became a club hit among techno heads despite being rooted in Chicago house, a crossover that set the tone for everything he would do next. That restless, genre blurring approach led him to co found Prescription Records in 1993 alongside Detroit producer Chez Damier, a label that would become quietly legendary in deep house circles. Along the way he collaborated with Anthony Nicholson, Robert Owens, and the German duo Basic Channel. Trent kept building his catalogue steadily across the 2000s and 2010s, releasing a stream of EPs and singles on his own Future Vision and Electric Blue imprints. His 2022 album "What Do the Stars Say to You" on Night Time Stories showed he still had plenty to say, and a 2025 release on Rush Hour called "Lift off" confirms he is nowhere near done.
