Skepta has been one of the driving forces behind grime's rise from underground pirate radio to global recognition. Born Joseph Adenuga in Tottenham, he co founded the collective Boy Better Know with his brother Jme, and his legendary clash with MC Devilman on Lord of the Mics 2 is still talked about as one of the genre's defining moments. His 2016 album Konnichiwa, home to bangers like "That's Not Me" and "Shutdown", took the Mercury Prize and cemented his status as a genuine cultural force. He even made Debrett's list of the most influential people in the UK. He's no one trick act either. His 2018 feature on ASAP Rocky's "Praise the Lord (Da Shine)" became the highest charting single for both artists. Ignorance Is Bliss followed in 2019 and charted across fifteen countries, and the 2020 collab album Insomnia with Chip and Young Adz cracked the UK Albums Chart top 10. On top of all that, he picked up a Nigerian Chieftaincy title in 2018.
