Few guitarists are as instantly recognizable as Slash, the top hat and Les Paul toting lead guitarist who helped define hard rock with Guns N' Roses on albums like Appetite for Destruction. His blues rooted playing stood apart from the technically flashy shredders of the late 1980s, and his riff on "Sweet Child o' Mine" was ranked the greatest guitar riff of all time by Total Guitar, while Guitar World put his "November Rain" solo at number six on their list of the 100 greatest guitar solos. After leaving Guns N' Roses in 1996, Slash kept busy with Slash's Snakepit and then Velvet Revolver alongside Scott Weiland, which brought him back to mainstream attention in the 2000s. He rejoined Guns N' Roses in 2016, and has kept up a busy solo career, releasing six albums including a run of records with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. His 2024 solo album Orgy of the Damned features a fresh cast of guest singers, and a recent collaboration with Brian Johnson on a cover of "Killing Floor" shows he has no plans to slow down.
