Few New Zealand bands have hit as hard as The Datsuns. The Cambridge quartet built their reputation on raw, no frills hard rock, and when their self titled debut landed in 2002, it shot straight to number one at home and cracked the UK top 20. A front cover slot in NME and regular spins on John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show helped turn them into one of the most talked about rock acts of that era. Their second album, Outta Sight/Outta Mind, was produced by Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, and they spent those years sharing stages with Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, and the White Stripes. The band has kept building their catalogue steadily, with Death Rattle Boogie recorded in Stockholm under the direction of former Hellacopters frontman Nicke Andersson, and Deep Sleep following in 2014. After seven years of quiet, they came back in 2021 with the single "Brain To Brain" and the album Eye To Eye, proving they hadn't lost the thread. Dolf de Borst, Christian Livingstone, and Phil Somervell remain at the core, with Ben Cole behind the kit.
