About
The Orielles are a three piece indie rock band from Halifax, West Yorkshire, made up of siblings Sidonie and Esmé Hand Halford on drums and bass respectively, plus guitarist Henry Carlyle Wade. Their 2018 debut Silver Dollar Moment drew comparisons to the baggy indie dance sound of the early 90s, but it was their second record Disco Volador in 2020 that really showed their range, blending disco funk, dream pop and electronic exotica into something genuinely adventurous. Produced by Marta Sologni, it picked up a Metacritic score of 73 and had critics reaching for phrases like "dazzlingly inventive". They kept pushing further with Tableau in 2022, a self produced experimental double album that threw out conventional song structures entirely. Their fourth album Only You Left followed in 2026 on Heavenly Records, with eleven tracks loosely organized around the contrasting qualities of wood and metal. A band that clearly gets restless sitting still.
